Advantages of Flying First Class
On board, enjoy good food and wine amidst plush settings while being entertained by the latest music, movies and digital publications.
Flying in premium class is enjoyable, but Bora Bora is one of the most remote places in the world and getting there is an adventure in itself. There are certainly no direct flights from Sydney - all flights that land on Bora Bora originate in one of the islands of French Polynesia.
Flying from Sydney, you will have to make at least three stops before you reach Bora Bora. There are no options to fly in first class on any of the four legs of the journey. However, there are business class cabins available on the first leg from Sydney to Auckland which lasts 3 hours 15 minutes.
You have two options to reach Bora Bora, the shorter of which takes 21 hours 10 minutes and the other that takes 40 minutes longer. The first two legs for both choices are identical. You first fly from Sydney to Auckland in 3 hours 15 minutes, then transit there for 2 hours 5 minutes. You then take the 5-hour flight to Papeete.
The Papeete stopover is 9 hours 30 minutes for the shorter option, after which you take a 40-minute flight to Huahine. There is a 15-minute layover before you fly to Motu Mute Airport (BOB) on Bora Bora.
With the longer journey, the Papeete layover is 10 hours 10 minutes long. This is followed by a 15-minute flight to Moorea (MOZ), a 15-minute layover, and then a 50-minute flight to Bora Bora’s Motu Mute Airport.
With either option, all legs but the first are on turbo-prop aircraft operated by Air Tahiti. The timings given here are based on beginning your journey with a LATAM Airlines flight from Sydney to Auckland. Other airways also fly this initial route but this option saves you the most time.
Airports in Bora Bora
There is only one airport on Boora Bora – Motu Mute (BOB). Located on an island in the middle of a lagoon, it is equipped only to handle the small propeller craft operated by Air Tahiti. You will need to transfer by boat to get from the airport island to the main island.
