Cheap Business and First class from Los Angeles to Milan
Advantages of Flying First Class
For most people, flying first class will forever be a dream out of reach. If you are one of the fortunate few who is privy to this world of luxury and opulence, you know that it is one of the most exquisite experiences that anyone can have.
Airlines lay out the red carpet for first class and business class passengers even before they board. Some offer chauffeur limousine services for pick-up, while priority check-in and boarding, and access to opulent lounges are standard fare.
This excellent treatment on the ground is just a preview of the onboard luxury that awaits. Lose yourself in the fine wine and chef-prepared food, and drift off to sleep in an enclosed suite while being entertained on a large personal screen connected to noise-canceling earphones.
No airline flies direct from Los Angeles to Milan but there are ample options available with a single layover that are extremely convenient.
Of these, SwissAir's offering is the most luxurious. While other airlines do have lie-flat seats, SwissAir gives first class passengers an enclosed suite for the first part of the journey from LAX to Zurich Airport (ZRH). This leg takes 10 hours 55 minutes, and after a 2 hour 5-minute layover, the second leg of just 50 minutes begins.
Lufthansa offers the quickest option of just 13 hours 25 minutes overall even though the total flight time is longer than SwissAir's offering. This is because there is just a 1 hour 20-minute layover at Frankfurt between the 10 hour 55-minute leg from LAX and the 1 hour 10-minute leg to Milan (MXP).
Airports in Milan
Two international commercial airports serve the Italian city of Milan. The first is Milan Malpensa Airport (MXP) and the second, Linate International Airport (LIN). International flights connecting from Los Angeles are split roughly equally between the two.
MXP is the second-busiest airport in the country after Rome. It is situated 30 miles (49 km) northwest of Milan. Located 29 miles (41 km) from the city, LIN is the larger of the two. However, they both handle about 20 million passengers a year.
Regular express trains run every half hour to their terminal stations while two daily high-speed services connect them to the larger region. The airports are also accessible by highways and motorways.
